I recently stumbled upon this shirt after wearing out my 3WM tees.
Upon closer inspection, one discovers an almost ethereal connection to the wolf pack. I find myself embodied in the Leader, standing strong, who I like to imagine is just bringing his attention forward after correcting a perhaps-too-jovial younger wolf. He still wears a slight smirk (hidden from those who would misunderstand it as sympathy), remembering his own youth. He was like that once, in love. But now is no time for that. This is a patrol. It will be done correctly.
Next, as I look upon the wolf on the left, I am transformed into the now-scorned younger wolf, who casts his glance aside. He can't bear to look upon the Leader who just shamed him in front of his pack-mate. Doesn't he know what it's like, to be in love? Of course he doesn't! All he ever does is lead! He has no time to follow his heart! He feels the burning of hatred inside him. Hatred at the Leader. Hatred at himself, for not being able to tell his crush, standing so close, how he feels about her. He even feels hatred for his pack, for sending them on this patrol. Why him? Why the Leader? and most importantly, why her?
Now I am the lagging wolf, bringing up the rear. Why did they always move so fast? Were they trying to leave her behind? The Leader says something to the wolf in front of her. He gets mad. She doesn't know what they're talking about. She starts to get lost in memory, thinking about the wolf who's tail she's been staring at the entire patrol. He's always picked on her. Maybe that's what they were talking about. Maybe the Leader finally stood up for her. She really liked him, the Leader. He never notices her, because she's always so far behind. But still, she can't help but to look at him and imagine life in his den.
It doesn't matter why they're on patrol. Freedom is what this wolf pack fights for.
I will proudly wear this shirt until it's threadbare. Although I may not fully ever understand the plight of the pack, I can still stand behind them.
